The Practice: One Meal With Others Each Day

Our eighth practice is practicing hospitality by sitting down to make space for community over a common meal. In eating with others, we turn our tables from a place of utility to a place for gathering and announcing our dependence on God, each other and our world.

When practicing this week, please abide by all pandemic restrictions that our health authorities have put in place. As the Message translation of the Bible translates Romans 12:13, let’s take the opportunity to “be inventive in hospitality”. In this unique time, consider taking your lunch online with co-workers or on the phone with a friend or making a habit of dinner with the family, roommates or, where permissible, a friend.
